The Story

Essien and Emre is a premium knitwear brand based in London, creating timeless statement pieces made to be found by those who seek uniqueness. Stunning textures and organic abstract pattern designs enhanced with bold colour mix in contemporary silhouette, embracing both tradition and new technology to deliver heritage charm in a modern language. Crafted in the finest of yarns, founded with a passion for quality and craftsmanship.

The Craft

Proud to be British-made, every piece mindfully designed and made in London and other parts of the UK in small numbers, using yarns that are already available at the mills in Italy and Scotland, to create own unique blends and colour combinations in pattern jacquards and traditional hand stitches of crochet, knit and embroidery. The hand knits and one-of-a-kind pieces are made in-house from kept and cherished luxurious yarns and archive textiles.

The Founder

Fong graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in knitted textiles, then continued on to work in the fashion industry across the globe as knitwear designer. Founded Essien and Emre to take fashion at a slower pace, an opportunity to dedicate time to designing and the intricate making process, creating pieces inspired by artworks rather than trends, bridging creativity and craftsmanship with 25 years experience specialising in knitwear.
